How sweet it is: Kelowna MapleFest returns for 47th Year

Kelowna MapleFest participants at the Sugar Shack in the Laurel Packinghouse.

It will be a day of maple syrup-themed events and experiences, food trucks, workshops, performances, live music, and a special Canadian-French brunch.

The Centre Culturel Francophone de l'Okanagan is again hosting Kelowna MapleFest from April 24-27. 

It begins with a screening of the movie Je m'appelle Humain, a look at the life and work of award-winning poet and Innu language translator Jos茅phine Bacon. Tickets are by donation.

Other events:

Saturday, April 26: Family Day & Rustic Market

  • Traditional maple taffy on snow;
  • Face painting and bouncy castles;
  • Circus workshops, dances, and jugglers;
  • Locally made handcrafted goods at the Rustic Market;
  • French-Canadian treats including poutine, pea soup, maple cotton candy;
  • Live music by Josh & Bex, Jocelyn Pettit & Boris Favre, The Women of Turtle Island, Bella Cat.

Water Street (from city hall to the Kelowna Community Theatre) will be closed to traffic. Free admission on site

On Sunday, April 27 the traditional Sugar Shack Brunch takes place at the Laurel Packinghouse featuring pancakes, ham, scrambled eggs, baked beans, and other maple inspired dishes. Live entertainment will be provided by the Old Time Fiddlers. Tickets are $20-$25, and $10 for children under seven.
