All levels of government across Canada, and many social and cultural groups, are set to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the confederation. The next AlterKnowledge Discussion, held May 19 from 7 to 9 p.m., will highlight a local alternative to the celebration.

Join Dixon Terbasket (Syilx), Master of Fine Arts student Crystal Przybille and other members of the Rethink 150: Indigenous Truth group for a conversation about Canada 150.

Using visual art as a means to question the celebration and to present indigenous perspectives on settlement and colonialism in the Okanagan, Rethink 150 offers an alternative form of public commemoration.

The project香蕉视频直播檚 goal is to foster critical dialogue about the celebration of Canada 150 and to create new relationships between Indigenous and non-indigenous peoples.

This AlterKnowledge discussion invites all members of the local community to reflect together on our shared histories, and to imagine and enact better alternatives.

All are welcome and refreshments will be provided.

The AlterKnowledge Discussion Series is organized by UBC Okanagan professors Allison Hargreaves, David Jefferess and Ruthann Lee. The series aims to foster community-engaged knowledge-making, bringing people together to discuss, share and (un)learn as a practice of decolonization.
