Kelowna residents had the chance to learn more about Canada's relationship with both Palestine and Israel on Saturday, March 1.
Around 50 people were at the Kelowna Unitarian church where Dr. Muhannad Ayyash and Dr. Jeremy Wildeman were on hand to discuss the book Canada As A Settler Colony On The Question Of Palestine (which they co-edited), talk about Palestine today, and answer questions from the audience.
The book was named Best Edited Collection in Canadian Studies at the 2024 Canadian Studies Network.
On top of Ayyash's and Wildeman's knowledge, there was a display on hand with QR codes to many articles and resources to learn about Palestine. There was also a donation jar.
The duo also held the seminar for students at UBC Okanagan on Friday, Feb. 28.
The event was put on by the Canadians for Justice and Peace in the Middle East (CJPME): Okanagan and Kelowna Unitarians as well as the Amnesty International Okanagan and Central Okanagan United Church.
