What's become one of the Penticton Vees' most well-attended regular-season games every year returns to the city this weekend.

The BCHL club hosts the 10th annual "Pink the Rink Night" on Friday, Feb. 7.

Set to sport pink jerseys in support of anti-bullying advocacy, the event will coincide with the Vees' next home against the Vernon Vipers.

Ï㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥œWe're thrilled to celebrate the 10th Annual Pink the Rink Night with the support of our local schools for this important anti-bullying initiative," said Amanda Lysohirka, the Vees' ticketing director.

Last year's event, also featuring a game between Penticton and Vernon, welcomed more than 4,300 fans at the South Okanagan Events Centre.

Schools from across School District 67 will be in attendance, with the Vees set to give away a $500 prize in a school spirit competition during the first intermission.

"This year is extra special as we proudly showcase the elementary schools on our pink jerseys, marking the final year for Parkway, Carmi, and GiantÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥™s Head schools," Lysohirka said, referencing recent changes at the school board level that will see the aforementioned schools close after this year.

"We believe this is a great way to unite the community of all ages, raise awareness, and honour the legacy of these schools and the impact they had on so many."

Group pricing is available for elementary school students and their families as part of a ticket fundraising initiative, the club said in a press release.

The Vees' special pink jerseys will be auctioned off after Friday's game, and fans are encouraged to wear pink.

Pink Shirt Day itself is scheduled for Feb. 26.

The nationwide event, first recognized in Canada in 2007, is also known as Anti-Bullying Day.
