Project Literacy is making reading fun for the whole family with the 8th annual Raise-a-Reader BBQ at Kelowna's Landmark District.
On Sept. 26, families can come get a beef or veggie burger lunch with pop and chips for just $12 to support literacy programs.
Executive Director Paul Zuurbier said, "We provide one-to-one literacy tutoring, which is rare these days. This allows each of our volunteers to help build their learner香蕉视频直播檚 overall confidence and literacy skills."
香蕉视频直播淥ur One-to-One Reading Program follows a similar model. We are in several schools in School District 23. This program has volunteers read with children in grades 1 to 4 twice weekly. These children are struggling to read at their grade level. If a child doesn香蕉视频直播檛 learn to read well by grade five, they often struggle with reading and self-confidence all the way through their school career and are less likely to take any post-secondary education.香蕉视频直播
The barbecue will be on from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
