Jessie Simpson loves getting Christmas cards in the mail every holiday season.

Sue Simpson of Kamloops is putting out the call again to send her son Christmas cards to brighten his holidays.

For the past number of years, Simpson has put out an annual request for mailed cards for her adult son Jessie.

Jessie was attacked in 2016 with a baseball bat and left in a coma. Nearly a year after the attack, Jessie woke up and has since defied the odds in his recovery.

Being wheelchair-bound and living in a long-term care home for most of the year, Simpson said the pair looks forward to quality time reading all the cards that have been mailed in.

The annual call this year includes e-cards as the now-ended Canada Post strike has caused delays in hand-delivered mail.

"Jessie wants Calgary Flames stuff for Christmas, and Canucks," Simpson said about what cards might be of interest to her son this year. Cards with pictures, music, and pop-ups are also appreciated.

E-cards can be sent to suesimpson97@gmail.com or mail a card to:

In past years, Simpson said they've received cards from across the U.S., Mexico, and even England.

Although gifts are not expected, Simpson said if anyone is thinking of sending a Christmas present the pair could always use grocery gift cards.

Donations are also being accepted through  that launched November 2018.
