It was therefore not surprising that the occupation of large sections of our national capital, and the very unneighbourly honking of horns at all hours, was met with widespread disapproval by most Canadians. Scrolling through my social media feed last week, I came across a clip of Pierre Elliott Trudeau being interviewed during the FLQ crisis in 1970. When CBC interviewer Tim Ralfe confronted the Prime Minister about putting troops on the streets of Quebec to deal with the threat, Trudeau shrugged and said, Ï㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥œYeah, well thereÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥™s a lot of bleeding hearts around who just donÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥™t like to see people with helmets and guns.
