His N Hers Ladies Fashions business owner George Wasyliw is retiring at the age of 80.

Long-time business in the Capri Mall, His N Hers Ladies Fashions is closing as business owner George Wasyliw is retiring at 80 years of age.

George has owned the popular ladies clothing store for over 25 years. He purchased it from well-known locals Walter and Sharon Fehr, who also owned the store for 25 years previous to that. The shop has had three locations in the Capri Mall over a 35-year period after being originally opened in Mission Park Shopping Centre. His N Hers has always been known for specializing in fitting real women in jeans. They were a shop in a shop for FDJ French Dressing Jeans as well as many other brands of comfy classic clothes. The store has been managed by well-known local gal Lise Anne Doiron for more than 20 years. She was also the storeÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥™s head buyer. His N Hers had many long-time staff who loved their customers. George and his wife Cherie are planning on travelling in their RV and enjoying their home in Puerto Vallarta. Drop into His N Hers as they are offering 50 per cent off everything in the store.

Perseval & Young Cheesemongers, located at 1046 Richter St., is celebrating its 5th anniversary in business. The specialty cheese shop will celebrate the business milestone on Friday, Aug. 30, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. From a cheese-loving dream born in Galway, Ireland, to opening their doors after more than a decade of dreaming, Phil Perseval and Desiree Young have come a long wayThey are excited to see their North End neighbourhood thriving with new breweries, an ethical butcher and locally owned restaurants. Tom Dyck has joined the the Okanagan College Foundation board for a four-year term. Tom is a retired senior executive who has worked in banking at a national and international level for a large part of his career. He has sat on many boards over the years, both non and for profit, and is sure to bring a unique perspective  having worked in both the U.S. and Canada.

The City of Kelowna has partnered with GreenStep Solutions to launch GreenStep Certified, a program to help businesses go green and take climate action. Kelowna & District S.H.A.R.E Society, located at 581 Gaston Ave., will host a Free Community Giveaway on Sept. 7 from noon to 2:30 p.m. All items are free, and it is on a first-come, first-serve basis. There will be no holds, and the items must be taken away immediately. Everything will be set up in their truck cage, which is next to the store. Watch for kitchen items, furniture, electronics, household items, decorations and lots more.

If you are a Seattle Seahawks football fan getting excited about the upcoming NFL season, the Okanagan Sea Hawkers Football Club is ready to match that energy. The OkanaganÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥™s most die-hard Seahawks fans have had a local booster club chapter since 2017 and recently held their AGM. This yearÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥™s executive is: Brad McKinnon, president; Richard McAdam, vice-chair and vice-president, membership; Jason Keis, secretary; John Davey, treasurer; Deb White and Kyle Ferguson, directors at large. The club has set up their game watch party schedule at Pretty Not Bad in Kelowna and Match Eatery in Vernon, with prizes and contest for members. Glen Stoten, regional manager - Canada of WestJet in Kelowna, is leading a team of WestJet airport leaders across Canada in the Hope Air Haul for Hope Ï㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥“ Pulling for Patients event on Sept. 18, at KF Aerospace Centre for Excellence. WestJet gives thousands of seats per year to this incredible cause that allows families with medical needs to fly to hospitals that they would not otherwise be able to afford. Their biggest hurdle is awareness, as many people in need are not aware of this service that WestJet provides. They will be providing a WestJet plane for the plane pull designed to test the WestJet team on their grit, strength and teamwork. A small group will pull a commercial aircraft 100 metres, competing against their own abilities and the clock. They are fundraising to make sure that Hope Air can continue to fund life-saving travel for medical care. Since 1986, Hope Air has provided over 170,000 travel arrangement for individuals, families and children across Canada. Visit  to learn more about this worthy cause. 

Associated Canadian Travellers (ACT) and United Commercial Travelers (UCT) Kelowna West 1003 have donated $2,000 to Starbright ChildrenÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥™s Development Centre. They also received a donation from the associations for $5,000 for winning the United Commercial Travellers Bridge of Friendship Award. Rick Warner is the president of ACT/UCT Kelowna West 1003.

Congratulation to Ahmad Taher Saleh, operations manager of both the Four Points by Sheraton Kelowna Airport and Hampton Inn & Suites Kelowna, who has been awarded MarriottÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥™s Operations Manager of the Year for 2023. Rad Relish Co. of West Kelowna has won the 2024 Indigenous Business Award (IBA) for Business of the Year Ï㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥“ One to Two Person Enterprise from the BC Achievement Foundation. This award program shares remarkable stories of Indigenous business excellence, while setting an inspiring example for the next generation of entrepreneurs. Rad Relish is owned and operated by partners Kyla King and Garrett Millsap. The relish is the creation of GarrettÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥™s grandmother, Peggy Millsap, now 95 years of age.  

CanScribe Kelowna is partnering with the Congress of Aboriginal Peoples to help student access funds for their online education. This funding is targeted to assist non-status Indigenous persons access funding they normally would be unable to take advantage of. The funding comes through the Indigenous Skills and Employment Training program through the Canadian government. Courses eligible for funding are Dental Administrative Assistant, Healthcare Records Clerk, CompTIA A+ Certification. Medical Transcription and Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialist.
