A slice of New York City is coming to the heart of Penticton's downtown.
Vancouver-based shop Straight Outta Brooklyn Pizza and Subs will soon open its doors at 66 Front St., the site of the former Honey Toast cafe.
"I think it will be a good addition to the Penticton food scene," said Dom Morra, who co-owns the business.
Opening day for its downtown Penticton spot is Friday, April 11.
Straight Outta Brooklyn Pizza has five locations in Vancouver, including on Robson Street.
Morra, who said he and his family spent most summers in Penticton, said he's thrilled to become Front Street's newest business.
"Penticton is like a second home to us and probably eventually our first home, at some point," Morra shared. "I think Front Street is a great location and a unique one, too.
Along with its Brooklyn-style pizza Ï㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥” which can ordered in slices or pies Ï㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥” Morra says the Penticton shop will also sell sub sandwiches, unlike its Vancouver locations.
"The pizza's got a thin crust and is cooked directly on stone not on a pan, so you a little get a little bit a char, crispness, and chew," added Morra, who is also the co-owner of Pizzeria Tratto in Penticton. "It's very exciting, and we've wanted to do a slice joint in Penticton for quite some time."
Dom co-owns Straight Outta Brooklyn with his brother, Frank Morra, and the Penticton location also has local partners and co-owners in Tage and Sam Deagan.
Honey Toast, the most recent business to be at the site, closed its doors in May 2024 after a two-run.
