West KelownaÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥™s Kelsen Podworny was a standout with his first goals of the season as the Warriors beat the Blackfalds Bulldogs 2-1 on Friday (Nov. 8) night.
Halfway through the first period, Podworny (1) put the Warriors up 1-0 on assists from Caden Kemkaran-Humble and Logan Flint.
The Bulldogs tied the game 1-1 at the 12:39 mark of the second period when Luca McDonald (1) scored behind West Kelowna goaltender Dawson Labre. Podworny (2) put the Warriors up 2-1 just 2.5 minutes later, with Flint and Simon Houge getting the assists.
West Kelowna outshot Blackfalds 30-19, with Labre making 18 saves in his fifth win of the season.
In Okotoks on Saturday (Nov. 9) night, the Warriors battled back twice to tie the Oilers. After a scoreless first period, Coy Pighin (4) put Okotoks up 1-0 just 0:15 into the second frame. West KelownaÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥™s Sam LeDrew scored his ninth of the season to tie the game 1-1 at 1:37 of the third period.
The Oilers went up 2-1 when Jacob Goudreau (4) beat Warriors goaltender Zack Ferris at 8:42 of the period. West Kelowna came back again when Jack Pridham (5) tied the game 2-2 with the extra attacker and 2:00 minutes left in the game. Spencer Rheaume (3) scored the winner at 3:16 of overtime.
West Kelowna outshot the Oilers 38-28, and Ferris made 25 saves. West Kelowna is in seventh place in the Interior Division with a record of 6-8-3-1-0.
The Warriors' next game is Nov. 15 in Trail against the Smoke Eaters.
