The West Kelowna Warriors closed out their regular season by rallying from three goals down to beat the Trail Smoke Eaters 4-3 on Saturday (Mar. 29) night.
Despite resting several veterans, Trail dominated the first half, racing out to a 3-0 lead in the second period. Zach Cotou (4) and Jack Kennedy (8) struck on the power play, while Cade De St. Hubert (5) added an even-strength tally.
With three minutes left in the second, Warriors defenseman Hudson Miller put his team on the board with his first BCHL goal, making it 3-1.
West Kelowna carried that momentum into the third. Six minutes in, Joey Macrina (3) scored to make it a 3-2 game. Moments later the Warriors Ian Alonso took a four-minute penalty for slashing and unsportsmanlike conduct. Three minutes into that penalty kill the Warriors found themselves down two men when captain Simon Houge was called for a cross check. West Kelowna killed off all the penalties.
With less than five minutes to go in the third, Alonso (12) tied the game 3-3. Elias Callgren completed the comeback and the 4-3 win when he score with 37 seconds left in the game.
West Kelowna closes the regular season at 23-24-5-2 and now shifts focus to the 2025 BCHL Playoffs. Their first-round battle begins this weekend on the road in Alberta against the Brooks Bandits.
