The West Kelowna Warriors wrapped up the weekend with a 3-2 win over the Blackfalds Bulldogs on Sunday (Jan. 12), in front of a sold-out crowd at Royal LePage Place for Hockey Day in West K.
Tyler Grahme (4) got things started for the Warriors midway through the first giving West Kelowna a 1-0 lead. The Bulldogs answered back four minutes later on the power play, with Gates Omicioli ( 7) tying it up.
Early in the second period, West Kelowna's power play delivered with Ian Alonso burying his second power-play goal in as many games to put the Warriors back on top, 2-1.
Grahme (5) scored his second of the night 12 seconds into the third period, making it 3-1 for the Warriors. Blackfalds didnÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥™t go quietly, pulling within one midway through the third on a goal by Jason Davenport (3), but West Kelowna held firm.
The win gives West Kelowna a three-point cushion over Okotoks for seventh place in the Interior Division as the league heads into the BCHL All-Star Weekend. The Warriors return to action on Friday, Jan. 24, hosting the Salmon Arm Silverbacks for Peachland Warriors Night.
