Warriors grab 2-0 series lead on Chiefs

The West Kelowna Warriors are two victories away from their first ever B.C. Hockey League title.

The Warriors took a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven Fred Page Cup final with a 6-3 victory over the Chiefs Saturday in Chiliwack.

Games 3 and 4 are set for Monday and Tuesday at Royal LePage Place.

First-star Jonathan Desbiens scored twice and added an assist as the Warriors broke a 3-3 tie in the third period with three unanswered goals.

Kylar Hope had three assists, while Jake LeBrun, Nick Rutigliano, Brett Mennear and Kyle MarinoÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥”the latter two into the empty netÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥”also scored for West Kelowna.

Matthew Greenfield, who recorded a shutout in Game 1, made 23 saves in the Warriors' net.

The final moments of the game marred by Liam Blackburn taking a hit to the head with less than five seconds remaining.

Linden Hora was given a five minute major for checking to the head and a game misconduct.
