Track triple for Dr. Knox runner

Emma Cannan, representing Dr. Knox Middle School, won three medals, including two gold, at the B.C. Schools Sports track and field championships.

On the provincial stage, Emma Cannan didnÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥™t look a bit out of place.

In fact, the Grade 8 student from Dr. Knox Middle School thrived on the challenge of competing at the B.C. High School Track and Field Championships.

Last weekend in Langley, Cannan won gold medals in the Grade 8 girls 200 and 400 metre events, and added a silver in the 100 metres.

CannanÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥™s time of 25.72 seconds in the 200 was 42/100 better than runner-up Tara Wallack of Semiamhoo.

In the 400, she clocked in at 59.16, .81 of a second ahead of BurnabyÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥™s Heather Vorell.

In the 100, Cannan narrowly missed coming home with a third gold medal as she was egded out by just 2/100 of second in a time of 12.76.

Ï㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥¢ Nick Cornell, KSSÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥”bronze in boys hammer throw

Ï㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥¢ The KSS girls ran to a gold medal in the 4 X 100 senior relay in a time of 49.78 seconds, edging out Maple Ridge Secondary by 22/100.

Junior

Ï㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥¢ Noah Russell, Mt. BoucherieÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥”gold in boys 300 hurdles (41.04), silver in boys 100 hurdles

Ï㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥¢ Kenaysha Lyder, KSSÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥”gold in girls 100 metres (12.68).

Ï㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥¢ Muriel Stroda, OKMÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥”gold in girls 80m hurdles (12.18).

Ï㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥¢ Lindsay Maier, Dr. KnoxÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥”gold in girls 300 metre hurdles (45.50)
