Nick Merkley, Dillon Dube and Cal Foote will all get a sample of international hockey early next month.
The Kelowna Rockets threesome has been named to Team WHL for the 2016 CIBC Canada-Russia Series.
The six-game series, which also involves the Ontario Hockey League and Quebec Major Junior League, begins with the WHL games, Nov. 7 in Prince George and Nov. 8 in Edmonton.
The series serves as an evaluation for Hockey Canada in its annual selection of the
Merkley, who spent the summer recovering from knee surgery, returned to the Rockets earlier this month from the camp of the NHL's Arizona Coyotes. In six games with Kelowna, Merkley has two assists.
Dube has yet to play for the Rockets this season due to a knee injury suffered at Calgary Flames training camp, but is expected back soon.
Foote is projected as a first-round pick in the 2017 NHL draft. The 17-year-old defenceman has eight assists in 11 games this season.
