Scott Hoyer's exceptional work behind the scenes has been recognized by the British Columbia Hockey Hall of Fame (BCHHF).
The Kelowna Rockets' athletic therapist has been named this year's winner of the Larry Ashley Award.
The award is presented each year to a trainer, equipment manager or medical person associated with the game of hockey that was either born in BC or given at least 10 years service to the province.
Hoyer worked with the WHL's Rockets from 2000-06, before returning in 2013. He spent two seasons working in the National Hockey League with the Edmonton Oilers as their strength and conditioning coordinator, as well as an assistant athletic therapist.

Hoyer has also served as the head athletic therapist for Team Canada on the international stage. He won a gold medal with the Canadian National Junior team at the 2003 World Junior Hockey Championship and a gold medal with Canada at the 2001 World Under-18 Championship.
He also spent five years working in the Canadian Sport School Hockey League, split between the Pursuit of Excellence in Kelowna, BC and Okanagan Hockey Academy in Penticton.
The Larry Ashley Award is dedicated to the memory of Ashley, who for 16 years was a head trainer in the National Hockey League. The last 14 years of his career were spent with the Vancouver Canucks.
Larry passed away in September of 1995, following a valiant battle with cancer.
