Maple Ridge wrestler Agnia Krakovska Sport BC high school female athlete of the year

A Maple Ridge athlete and an administrator of sports both received provincial honours this week.

Maple Ridge wrestler Agnia Krakovska was chosen as the Sport BC High School Female Athlete of the Year, as that organization held its annual awards night on March 6.

Krakovska, fights for the Maple Ridge Ramblers, and is fresh off winning a B.C. high school wrestling championship in Vancouver on Feb. 22, where she was also chosen the top female wrestler at the tournament.

However, she was honoured Thursday for a 2024 that saw her take provincial, national, and international trophies.

Krakovska started wrestling just two years ago, and last year won the under-19 national championships, took bronze at the under-17 Pan American Championships, and was the under-17 Canadian World Team Trials champion.

She capped off her impressive 2024 campaign with a win at the U.S. National Freakshow Wrestling Tournament in Las Vegas.

She has been offered a university scholarship to wrestle for for the Simon Fraser University Red Leafs.

Jake Rudolph has been named the BC Games Society香蕉视频直播檚 recipient for the Presidents香蕉视频直播 Awards, given to volunteers from Sport BC member and partner organizations who demonstrate the spirit of volunteerism through the dedication, commitment, and tireless energy they give to their sport organizations.

Rudolph served as director of sport for the Maple Ridge 2024 BC Summer Games.

He recently retired from a long career in municipal administration, having served as general manager for the City of Maple Ridge, and in other senior roles in Pitt Meadows, Abbotsford, and Nanaimo. Rudolph is also a past president of the Ridge Meadows Minor Hockey Association.

Pitt Meadows gymnast Brooklyn Lee-McMeeken was one of three women nominated in the category of junior female athlete of the year.

The Sport BC event, hosted by CBC香蕉视频直播檚 Scott Russell, recognizes the province香蕉视频直播檚 best in amateur sport including athletes, coaches, teams, and officials for outstanding performances in their 2024 sport season.
