Kelowna rowers contend at provincials

WomenÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥™s doubles team from Kelowna Rowing Club narrowly missed medal in Victoria

The Kelowna Rowing Club had four athletes competing at the B.C. Championships.

The Kelowna Rowing Club turned in a respectable showing at the B.C. Rowing Championships this month at Elk Lake in Victoria.

Nicole Samuelson and Jocelyn Carmichael finished a close fourth in the final of the womenÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥™s under-19 double, just 1.8 seconds out of third place. The Kelowna duo finished the 1850m event in eight minutes 1.96 seconds.

The 12-team race was won by the Victoria City Rowing Club team who will represent B.C. at this yearÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥™s Canada Summer games.

Also representing Kelowna were Claire Benade and Toni Vandenbrink who finished fifth in B final of the womenÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥™s open double.

The Kelowna Rowing Club also had four athletes competing in the womenÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥™s open quad event where they finished in fifth.

The Kelowna team is coached by Dan Thompson.
