Sometimes, it's just not your night. That provided true for the Kelowna Rockets on Wednesday, Jan. 29.
In front of 4,100 fans at Prospera Place, the Rockets fell 11-1 to the Victoria Royals.
Victoria scored three goals in the first period, five in the second, and three in the third en route to the win. Forward Cole Reschny led the way with a five-point night (two goals, three assists), while in total, eight Royals collected multi-point nights.
Special teams also played a factor as Victoria went a perfect 5/5 on the powerplay.
Rockets forward Michael Cicek scored the team's only goal late in the game. His 15th goal of the season was assisted by Nate Corbet.
This 11-1 loss comes almost a calendar year after their last 11-1 loss, which took place against the Portland Winterhawks on Feb. 2, 2024.
Kelowna has now lost four games in a row and are now 16-23-4-1, 10th in the WHL's Western Conference.
The Rockets are back in action on Friday night when they welcome the league's best Everett Silvertips (34-7-4-3) to Prospera Place. Puck drop is at 7:05 p.m.
