Four athletes win their divisions at Omega Invitational

Four athletes from the Okanagan Gymnastics Centre struck gold in all around events at an artistic gymnastics competition in Coquitlam.

Veronica Tarasenco, Veronika Yacovelli, Iulia Tarasenco and Tara Dunn each won their respective categories at the Omega Invitational, Feb. 24 to 26.

Veronica Tarasenco, 13, took the gold in the all around in the Junior Olympic (JO) 8 category, earning the gold medal on the vault, a silver on beam and bronze medals on the uneven bars and floor exercise.

Iulia Tarasenco, 9, took the gold in the all around in the JO 4 category. She finished with gold medals on the uneven bars and floor exercise and also won silver on the balance beam.

Piper Campo, 9, finished second overall after winning the vault and finishing second on the floor and third on the uneven bars.

Alexandra Kennedy, 9, finished third overall, after earning silver on vault and bronze on beam.

Haylee Van Steinburg took gold on the beam with an impressive 9.60. Teagan Murray, 10, won a gold on vault, bronze on beam and third place overall. Raedyn Furneaux, 10, finished with a bronze medal on the vault.

Tara Dunn, 8, won the all around in JO 3 Ï㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥“ 2009 category, finishing with gold medals on the balance beam and floor exercise and silver on the vault and uneven bars. Lexi Crawford, 7, finished with a bronze on the vault.

In the JO 3 Ï㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥“ 2007/08 category, Junelle Sabang, 8, finished with a bronze overall in the JO 3 category. Sabang also earned a silver on the balance beam. Izabelle Coetzee, 8, earned gold on the floor and bronze on the beam. Summer Houston, 9, won silver on the vault, while Talia Westwood, 8, finished with a silver on floor exercise. Ava Roth, 8, earned a bronze on vault.

Veronika Yacovelli, 11, won the JO 5 category.

Alayna Butler, 12, earned silver on the uneven bars in the JO 6 Ï㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥“ 2006-2004 category.

Olive Fenske, 8, won the JO 6 Ï㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥“ 2007/08 with gold on the bars and floor exercise, a silver on the vault and a bronze on the beam. Sydney Ortynski, 9, finished in third overall earning a gold on the beam, silver on the floor and bronze on the bars.

In the Aspire 1 category, Miah Denis, 9, finished third overall after earning a silver medal on the vault and a bronze on the bars. Natalia Simeunovic, 10, won a bronze on the beam.

In the JO 9 Ï㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥“ 2005 category, Amanda Jaggard, 11, finished with silver overall, and three bronze on the bars, beam and floor. Kyleigh Crawford, 12, finished in third over all, also earning a silver medal on the balance beam.

In the JO 10 Ï㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥“ 2003-2005 category, Kamryn Greenhalgh finished in second place overall after earning a silver on the beam and a bronze on the floor.
