The Kelowna Chiefs celebrate a 5-2 win over the Sicamous Eagles at Rutland Arena on Feb. 22, 2025.

The Kelowna Chiefs finished the 2024-25 KIJHL regular season with two wins on the weekend.

A three-goal third period powered the Chiefs to a 5-2 win over the Sicamous Eagles at Rutland Arena on Saturday (Feb. 22) night.

Austin Horbachewsky (22) opened the scoring with a powerplay goal near the eight minute mark of the first period to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead. The Chiefs bounced back seconds later as Owen Ivanov scored his 14th of the season.

Sicamous took a 2-1 lead just over three minutes into the middle frame with Walker Overwater netting his second of the season. Kelowna came back again a minute later with Matt Saretsky (13) tying the game 2-2.

It was all Chiefs in the third period starting at the 36 second mark with Aiden Morcom scoring his 22nd goal of the season, and the eventual game winner, putting Kelowna up 3-2. Owen Miller (18) made it 4-2 nearly five minutes later.  Luke Rishaug (17) added one more, on the powerplay, with less than three minutes to play for the 5-2 win.

Kelowna outshot Sicamous 37-34 and went one-for-six on the powerplay. Goaltender Michael Makowsky made 32 saves in the win. The Chiefs beat the Revelstoke Grizzlies 6-5 in overtime on Friday (Feb. 21).

Kelowna did not make the post season, as they finished behind Sicamous.
