Hull earns Sun MVP honours

Linebacker Layne Hull was named the Sun's outstanding player for 2016.

A leader on defense all season, was recognized for his contributions to the Okanagan Sun at the B.C. Football Conference club's annual awards banquet on Monday night.

The 22-year-old linebacker from Yorkton, SK was named both the Sun's MVP and top linebacker for 2016.

Hull led the Sun with 93 total defensive points, which included 30 tackles, three quarterback sacks, three batted balls, one fumble recovery and one interception.

Cespedes, Heintz players of the week

With his two interceptions in , the Sun's Raquille Cespedes was named the BCFC's player of the week on defense.

Cespedes also made two key plays on special teams, including running for a crucial first down on a third-and-10 situation late in the game.

Kealey Heintz, who booted four field goals, including the game winner in overtime against the Rams has been named the conference's special teams player of the week.
