The UBC Okanagan Heat women kept their 2016 playoff hopes alive with a sweep of the Thompson Rivers Wolfpack in Canada West soccer action.

After a 2-0 victory Thursday in Kamloops, the Hear returned home to edge TRU 2-1 in dramatic fashion on Saturday afternoon at Nonis Field.

Heat rookie Kylee Walker tied the game 1-1 with a goal in the 80 minute, then watched Lauren Candelario deliver the decisive marker for UBCO in the 87th minute.

With the win, the Heat improve their Canada West record to 4-6 and remain in sixth place in the conference's Pacific Division.

Meanwhile, on Thursday night Ally Ferronato and Cassie Bratton scored the goals in a 2-0 UBCO win.

Chloe Ainsworth started for UBCO in net and recorded three saves for her second shutout of the season.

The Heat will be back in action Friday in Edmonton against the University of Alberta, before making their way to Prince George Sunday to play UNBC.

Heat men

The Heat men's goal-scoring woes continued Saturday at Nonis Field in a 2-0 loss to the Thompson Rivers Wolfpack.

It was the Heat's first home loss of the season and dropped UBC Okanagan (4-6-2) into fifth place in the Pacific Division and, for now, out of a playoff position.

The Wolpack scored in the 10th and 33th minutes to move to 5-6-1 on the season, pulling ahead of UBCO and into fourth place.

Bret Depner was the Heat's MVP of the match.

The Heat, who also lost 1-0 to TRU on Thursday night in Kamloops, has scored just one goal in the last seven games.

UBCO will host Fraser Valley this Saturday and Trinity Western this Saturday and Sunday at Nonis Field in their final home games of the regular season. Kick off both days is 1 p.m.
