The Kelowna Rockets secured two wins against the Victoria Royals over the weekend (Dec. 7-8), taking two of three games on their road trip.
Andrew Cristall (22) bounced back after his 15-game point streak ended in a 4-1 loss to Everett on Dec. 6. On Saturday, Cristall scored twice in a 4-2 win over Victoria, including a shorthanded goal. Hiroki Gojsic (9) and Jakub Stancl (11) also found the back of the net. Goaltender Rhett Stoesser was outstanding, stopping 49 of 51 shots. The Rockets went 2-for-4 on the power play.
On Sunday, Cristall delivered another two-goal performance, leading Kelowna to a 4-1 victory over the Royals. Gojsic and Connor Pankratz (1) added goals, while goaltender Jake Pilon made 32 saves on 33 shots. The team went 1-for-3 on the power play.
The Rockets are currently eighth in the Western Conference with 29 points and a record of 13-11-2-1. They return to action on Friday (Dec. 13) against the Tri-City Americans in Kennewick, Wash.
Cristall and teammate Caden Price (6) are attending CanadaÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥™s National Junior Team selection camp in Ottawa from Dec. 10-13 as they prepare for the World Junior Championship.
