Chayton Hauberg, up against players as old as 29, came out on top in the 3.5 skill division at nationals.

A Coldstream local, at just 15-years-old, is racking up the accolades in the sport of pickleball.

Chayton Hauberg was crowned champion of the Myoflex 2024 Pickleball Canada National Championship competition in the 15-29 age category, 3.5 skill level event.

Hauberg went 4-0 throughout the tournament, winning gold against Saskatchewan's Mike Melfort; 16-14, 11-15, 15-7.

By far the youngest player in the event, Hauberg was competing against players in their early and late twenties.

The tournament was hosted in Halifax, Nova Scotia, from Aug. 20-24. It featured over 800 players, in over 60 different categories and skill levels, with competitions for women, men, doubles and mixed doubles and ages 15 to 70 plus.

At the Kamloops Open tournament in early June, Hauberg and partner James Johnson won bronze in the 4.0 doubles event (aged 14-64), while in singles, Hauberg took silver in the 3.5 level.
