Vernon Kokanee Swim Club member Brea Duncan is fresh from a gold-medal winning performance at the Ken Demhuk International Swim Meet in Markham, Ontario.

Arnstrong's Brea Duncan continues to make waves on the international swimming scene.

The para swimmer won a gold medal at the Ken Demchuk International Swim meet in Markham, ON.

Duncan, who is a member of the Vernon Kokanee Swim Club (VKSC), swam to a personal best 2:07.74 in the 100 metre breaststroke race, in the SB 6 sport class.

She also competed in the 400 m freestyle, shaving seven seconds off her previous personal best time.

Duncan called the two-day meet hosted by Swim Ontario, an "amazing experience."

VKSC is hosting a para learn to swim program in the new year. The volunteer-led program encourages physical literacy development in the water through play and skill development.

The overall goal is to develop the necessary skills of a high-performance athlete, with skills focused on water safety, float to stand and symmetrical swimming skills.

The program will take place on Wednesdays from 4-4:45 p.m. from Jan. 8 to Feb. 26 at the Vernon Recreation Centre.
