The Kelowna Rockets fell 7-3 to the Victoria Royals on Tuesday, Feb. 4, suffering their seventh straight loss.

A good start by the Kelowna Rockets was quickly squandered as they lost their seventh straight game on Tuesday, Feb. 4, falling 7-3 to the Victoria Royals.

Despite being shorthanded early on, that didn't matter for the Rockets as forward Jakub Stancl buried his 18th goal of the season, unassisted to open the scoring.

However, the Royals were still able to capitalize on the man advantage as 1:16 later, Markus Loponen tied the game. His goal was his 16th of the year, assisted by Brayden Boehm.

After that goal, the floodgates opened for Victoria as they went on to score seven straight goals.

At the 9:39 mark of the first period, Teydon Trembecky became the second Royal to reach 30 goals on the season, assisted by the team's leading scorer Cole Reschny to take a 2-1 lead.

Late in the frame, Boehm found the back of the net for the 16th time this year, making it 3-1 Victoria after the first period.

The Royals' reign continued in the second Kenta Isogai (21) and Cole Reschny (19) each scored powerplay goals in a span of 1:21 to make it 5-1. Isogai's goal ended up being the eventual game-winner.

Then after the powerplay goal, Reschny scored his second of the game, 20th of the season shorthanded at the 13:35 mark of the period.

Early in the third period, Victoria's Wyatt Danyleyko added another goal for good measure to make it 7-1.

Kelowna tried to crawl their way back as they got third-period goals from Kalder Varga (9) and Jaxon Kehrig (3) but that's as close as they would come.

Reschny was the game's first star as he scored twice and added two assists.

Rhett Stoesser made 28 saves in the loss for the Rockets while Jayden Kraus continues to be one of the best goalies in the WHL as he made 30 stops in the win. He currently sits second in the WHL with a .912 save percentage and fourth in wins with 21.

The Rockets remain at the bottom of the Western Conference with a record of 16-26-4-1 while the Royals are second at 28-14-3-5. With the loss, the Rockets have now lost seven straight games, in which they are getting outscored 48-20.

Both teams will face off again on Wednesday night (Feb. 5) at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre. Puck drop is at 7:05 p.m.
