I was more than a bit distressed to hear that Okanagan College has moved many in-person Adult Basic Education classes to online courses, without warning.
I feel for the students involved.
My experiences with Okanagan College Instructors have impacted my life greatly, and I still hear Al Hiebert's voice when I'm researching Canadian history at the National Archives. Even three decades later.
I urge Okanagan College to reconsider their decision.
There are many benefits to in-class learning versus online learning.
I'm sure these benefits are amplified considering the students affected are returning to the learning environment after many years away.
I feel that students have been given no option in the matter.
If they had signed up for in-person classes, their choices should have been honoured by Okanagan College.
Thank you,
