To the editor:

It seems to me that every time we hear about parking issues from city hall the word is reduce spaces.

Does everyone at city hall walk, bus or ride bicycles? Sidewalks get wider, green bicycle lanes keep growing, but heaven forbid we should expect the so-called expert planners at city hall to recognize reality.

We are a city that has a great population of seniors. Most of us no longer are able to ride bicycles. Some of us require walkers or chairs for mobility.

The family car serves us well, so we can continue to go to appointments, shopping, dining or the theatres. But we need parking. We need it day and night.

Please study all your current parking lot rules. Are they user friendly? Why do so many business ventures leave downtown Kelowna? Yes, new people are optimistic and the for lease signs keep moving around. But everywhere people are bemoaning the parking issues in our city. How soon can we count on you to think about the families who need to drive cars?
