Seiko Koyama passed away in Kelowna on October 18, 2019 at the age of 90 years. She was one of four children born to Kiyoitsu and Hanako Isumi in Hyogoken, Japan. After high school, she took nurse's training and pursued a career in nursing for twenty years, first at Osaka Shiritsu Kosiin then at Kobe University Hospital. In 1970, Seiko immigrated to Canada and was wed to Ken Kayama in a prearranged marriage. They lived in Winfield and Ellison where Ken predeceased her in 1998. In her last 11 years, she was a resident of Sun Pointe Village. Many thanks to the staff for their compassion and excellent care of Seiko. Surviving Seiko are her siblings in Japan, brother Shigeru Izumi, sister Kiyoko Yamamoto, brother Toji Izumi and sister Kimiko Izumi and their extended family members. In honour of Seiko's last wishes, there will be a private graveside service at the Winfield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the charity of your choice.
