1953-2020 ~ On Sunday December 27, 2020, Ron DeLucrezio passed away peacefully at home, aged 67 years.
Ron was born and raised in Nelson BC where he attended St Joseph's Catholic School, Trafalgar Junior High, and LV Rogers Secondary School. Many people will remember seeing him as he worked on the Kootenay Lake Ferry between Balfour and Kootenay Bay.
He pursued a career in business, attending Mt Royal College in Calgary Alta and then onto the University of Hawaii. However, he found his true passion in the kitchen, continuing his studies as a chef at Okanagan College in Kelowna, area.
He held positions in various restaurants and resorts in the Kelowna area, finally venturing into catering for the school lunch program funded by the Government of British Columbia. He was able to combine business acumen with his love of cooking and good food.
Ron had a zest for adventure, enjoying snow skiing, water skiing, camping, motorcycle riding and golf. He loved spending time with his family, especially outdoors and was a good friend to many.
Ron is survived by his son Aaron of Kelowna, stepdaughter Carla Walsh of Edmonton, sister Marilyn (Rod) Chew of Queensland Australia as well as cousins, aunts and nieces and nephews. Though separated from Debbie Anne (nee Viita) their care, friendship, and concern for each other was a comfort for both as they journeyed through their own health challenges over the years.
In lieu of flowers the family welcomes donations to the BC Cancer Foundation. This organisation supports cancer services across the province, of which Ron was a recipient. The link to their donation page: https://bccancerfoundation.com/ways-donate/gift-memory
