November 12, 1953 - September 26, 2019
It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Philip Joseph Campbell on September 26, 2019 at the Vancouver General Hospital. Phil was born and raised in Kelowna and retired to Campbell River three years ago. Phil is lovingly missed by his wife, Brenda, daughter April, son Noll, granddaughter Ayla, brothers Mel (Anne), Vic (Anne), sister Elena (Keith), many cousins, nieces and nephews, life-long and new friends. Phil was predeceased by his infant daughter, Leah Marie, and parents, Nellie & Jim Campbell.
Phil was a Red Seal-Class A Electrician and an On-Site Project Supervisor for Keldon Electric. Phil's exceptional skills and standards of excellence were in demand and he worked throughout BC, primarily in the construction of hospitals. He had a great passion for this type of work and greatly enjoyed meeting new people wherever he went. Phil applied his skills to fulfill his dream of building a retirement home for Brenda and himself in Campbell River, where they would pursue their love of camping and fishing. Phil was an accomplished musician and drummer. He had a terrific sense of humor, a quick wit and a genuine interest in the stories and accomplishments of other people. His presence never failed to bring laughter and warmth to an occasion. Phil leaves many cherished memories with his family and friends and he will always be dearly loved and forever remembered.
The family would like to thank the many doctors, nurses and medical professionals of the Vancouver General Hospital, Campbell River Hospital and the Kelowna Hospital for their exceptional care and compassion in Phil's courageous journey to be well.
For those who wish, donations in Phil's memory may be made to Vancouver General Hospital or a charity of choice. In honour of Phil's wishes, family and friends will celebrate his life at a later date.
