August 12, 1930 - October 21, 2021
Pauline Mary Blann (nee Jukes) passed peacefully in her sleep on Thursday October 21, 2021 in Penticton, B.C.
'Mum' was predeceased by parents Stewart and Hilda Jukes, loving partner Tom Landale and twin brother Michael. Survived by sons Christopher (Janyce), and David Blann and former spouse Brian Blann (Norma), six grandchildren, Brendan, Steven, Corrine, Michael, Grayson and Devin. Born in Poole Dorset, England in 1930, Mum endured the war years in Poole where she met Brian and married in 1953.
In 1955 Mum and Brian immigrated to Canada and settled in Hamilton Ontario where son Chris arrived in 1957. Next stop was West Vancouver when son David arrived in 1961. When the boys were grown, Mum took up tennis and having a competitive spirit, this passion continued into her 80's. She reached Canadian ranking in the various age groups she participated in. Highlights included winning the Western Canadian Championships several times in her 70's. Through tennis Mum nurtured many close friends in Vancouver and Kelowna, many staying in touch during her last year.
Mum moved to Kelowna B.C. in 1982. Shortly after she met Tom Landale and until Tom's passing in 2017 they enjoyed 35 wonderful years together, travelling , camping, boating, fishing and hosting barbeque and pool parties for family and friends at their home. Mum enjoyed attending the Okanagan Symphony concerts and Ballets with her Kelowna friends with many tennis matches in between.
Mum also found time to play bridge twice a week. After hanging up the tennis racquet, Mum took up table tennis where her seemingly never ending competitiveness earned her a nick-name "spitfire".
In 2020, Mum suffered a stroke which led to her move into Penticton's Village By The Station care home where we were so fortunate to have window visits and zoom meetings due to Covid restrictions. Later we could go out on outings to the promenades along Okanagan or Skaha Lake enjoying scones and coffee along the way.
Family and friends would like to thank The Village By the Station staff for their compassionate and attentive care until her passing. Mum will be missed by family and friends. Cremation and no funeral by Mum's request. Penticton Providence Funeral Home will officiate a Zoom celebration of life on November 3rd at 10 am. Condolences can be left at www.providencefuneralhomes.com

Grief never ends
But it changes
It's a passage
Not a place to stay
Grief is not a sign of weakness
...It is the price of love
