May 15, 1928 - April 15, 2019
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of John (Jack) on April 15, 2019. Jack was born in Griswald, Manitoba and later moved to Edmonton where he met his loving wife Jeanette.
From a very young age Jack took on any job he could to make a living. He ended up working on the oil rigs for many years before starting his own billiards / barbershop business in Thorsby, AB. He then moved his family to Edmonton where he started a backhoe business. Jack and Jeanette eventually settled in Kelowna, B.C. where he operated Big H Ditching until he retired at the age of 70.
Jack had a bit of wanderlust and he was always happiest when he was travelling with Jeanette to new places. He always provided for his family and instilled the value of hard work in his children.
He is survived and eternally loved and remembered by Jeanette, his wife of 65 years, along with his children Pat (Harvey), Karen (Rick), Calvin, Janet (Grady), Gordon (Susan) as well as 13 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held on May 18, 2019 at 10 am at Rutland United Church, 1370 Rutland Road in Kelowna followed by a lunch reception. His ashes will be interred following the service at 1 pm at the Lakeview Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Mission Creek Landing. The family also wishes to thank the staff at Mission Creek Landing for their wonderful care.
