November 23, 1923 - December 13, 2019
A long time resident of Kelowna, Jean passed away on Dec. 13 at the age of 96 surrounded by her family. She was predeceased by her husband Roy in 2005, her daughter Heather Hohn and son-in-law Ed Hohn (Red Deer), brothers Fred Young (Regina) and Moe Young (Kelowna). She was an amazing mother to daughter Maureen (Jack) Mieras and son Les (Jackie) Edwards.
Grannie will be lovingly remembered by grandchildren Laura (Jason) Sansom, Natasha (John) Lenius, Jeff, Jaymie (Vanessa) and Jason (Corrin) Mieras and by Bryan (Chelsea) Edwards and Carly (Hugh) Beckstead. Great grandchildren Sydney, John, Brayden, Autumn, Scarlett, Maxem, Sarah, Tyler, Grace and Bowen were lucky to have had her in their lives. Jean is survived by sisters-in-law Sheila Adams and Beryl Byers as well as many nieces and nephews, in particular Debbie, Nancy and Megan. Jean was born in Regina, Saskatchewan on Nov. 23, 1923. After their marriage, she and Roy returned to Regina to raise their family. In 1960, they decided to move to Kelowna, something they never regretted. She and Roy joined the Kelowna Wagon Wheelers square dance club and thoroughly enjoyed dances in Kelowna and throughout the valley. Jean worked at the Capital News, Orchard City Press, and as a secretary for the Crown Prosecutor office before retiring.
Jean had the gift of the gab and was loved and respected by everyone she met. She was a woman of integrity, loyal and honest beyond fault, and always ready to lend an ear and assist family, friends and colleagues. She made many special friends at Sandalwood Retirement Resort while she lived there. Jean will be dearly missed by all and will live on in our hearts forever.
There will be no service at Jean's request. Should family and friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.valleyviewfuneralhome.com for the family.
