Born in McMahon, Saskatchewan in 1933, Jim always loved hunting and fishing and was an avid junior hockey player. Eventually he joined SaskTel and moved to Kelowna, BC working for OkanaganTel and BCTel from where he retired after 33 years of employment. Jim was also an avid curler and his team represented BC at the national bonspiel for telecommunication employees in the 1970s. After his retirement, Jim and his wife Bertha moved to Black Creek, BC on Vancouver Island where he enjoyed fishing and spending time with their wonderful neighbors.
Numerous trips to Nevada and area during the winters kept them busy as well. Jim moved from the island to Armstrong, BC in 2007 where he reconnected with old friends and made many new friends on Meadow Creek Lane. Jim could be found frequenting casinos, enjoying lunch with friends at the Legion in Enderby and watching baseball, hockey, football and curling in his favorite chair. In September 2020 Jim moved to Heaton Place where he enjoyed interacting with the staff and other residents.
Jim passed away at Heaton Place on August 24, 2022. He was predeceased by his wife Bertha Pomrenke, sister Helen Craig, brother-in-law Orlin Craig and sister-in-law Doreen Pomrenke. Left behind to mourn Jim is his brother Harvey Pomrenke, daughters Janice Pomrenke and Cheryl Hamilton (Gary) along with nieces, nephews and dear friends.
We would like to thank the staff at Heaton Place for the wonderful atmosphere they create for their residents and the compassionate care they provide.
