George Raymond Goldsmith passed away, peacefully in his sleep, March 22, 2020, in Kelowna, British Columbia at the age of 85. "Ray" was born in Kelowna on April 2, 1934, and enjoyed his entire life in the beautiful Okanagan Valley.
He was born to George Horace Goldsmith (1889-1964) of Cornwall, England and Kathleen Maude Matthews (1899-1944) of Buckinghamshire, England. Ray was the youngest of seven siblings, all of whom predeceased him.
George Raymond Goldsmith is survived by his wife of nearly sixty-three years, Marion. They were married in Kelowna on May 4, 1957. Ray is also survived by four children; Robert, Leonard ("Len"), David ("Dave") and his wife Wendy, and Bonnie Bowman and her husband Todd - also survived by five grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Emily, Melissa ("Missy") Bowman, Amy Bowman, and Dhylan.
Ray worked at the Riverside Forest Products sawmill in Kelowna from the age of twenty until his retirement at age 65. Ray was known by all of his friends and co-workers as "Goldie" at the sawmill.
The family wishes to sincerely thank all of the staff at Mission Creek Landing, Interior Health (Home Support), and Dr. A. Thomson for their amazing support and care.
In accordance with Ray's wishes, he will be cremated and a small family service will be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations to the Canadian Diabetes Association can be made in Ray's name.
