March 23, 1932 - June 7, 2019
With saddened hearts we announce the passing of Dr. Andrew Janzen. Dr. Andrew (Andy) Janzen passed away peacefully on June 7, 2019. Born March 23, 1933, in Chihuahua, Mexico, to Willhelm and Neta Janzen, he immigrated to Canada with his family in 1946. Andy's family settled in Kelowna where Andy dreamed of a career as a doctor.
He worked hard to upgrade his education in a new language and was accepted into the faculty of medicine at the University of British Columbia, graduated in 1966. After an internship in the United States and one year of practise in Liilloet, Andy returned to Kelowna where he spent the rest of his life and medical career. Upon retirement Andy spent many happy days fishing, hunting and gardening. Never forgetting his youth in Mexico Andy, together with his Rotary Club, worked with the Tarahumara people in the Copper Canyon area in Mexico bringing an ambulance and hospital beds, as well as planting apple orchards and installing irrigation systems.
Andy was predeceased by his parents Willhelm and Neta, his first wife Renate, his second wife Eileen and his cousin Willie. He leaves to mourn his daughters Jennifer and Andrea, his sister Nettie and her family, cousin Katrie and family as well as many friends. We miss you Andy.
Rest In peace. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
