Douglas John Ablett passed away peacefully on April 19, 2019 in Kelowna. His wife of 60 years, Marie, was at his side. He was born in Kelowna in 1933, the second child of Art and May Ablett. He had six siblings, Vivian, Ab, Sheila, Gordon, Richard and Donna. He is survived by Sheila and Gordon. His family lived in many places including Oliver, Ocean Falls, Salmo, Vancouver, Highland Valley and Kelowna. Doug married Marie, daughter of Ross and Lena Loyst, in Vernon. They had four children, Todd [Stella] West Vancouver; Stuart [Emiko] Tokyo; Linda, Port Coquitlam and Karen [1969-1979.]

Doug was also the loving grandfather of Andrew and Zoe [Todd], and Erika and Mizuki [Stuart].

Doug worked as an electrician and later an Electrical Inspector in Prince George, Terrace, Vancouver and Kelowna. He also enjoyed teaching electrical code during these years. He retired on April 1, 1994. For many years he built and flew radio controlled model airplanes. He was long time member of KORC and was always so happy to help his fellow flyers with their planes.

A celebration of Life will be held on May 8 at 2 pm at Everden Rust Funeral Home, 1910 Windsor Rd. (off Hwy 97 at Spall Rd South.) Donations can be made to the SPCA or the Alzheimer's Society. Condolences can be sent to Everdenrust.com. Godspeed Doug Ablett, you are missed!
