July 22, 2019
After a lengthy battle with dementia, on Monday July 22, 2019 at Kelowna General Hospital; Douglas Foster Best, beloved husband of June Best, of Kelowna, BC went home to be with his Lord. Besides his loving wife and best friend, June, he is survived by daughters April (Larry) and Lisa, brother Lyle and sister Muriel. He is predeceased by his father, mother, brothers Norman and Orvin, sisters Pearl, Evelyn and Shirley. Doug was born in Lintlaw, SK April 9, 1932 to Foster and Ethel Best. Finishing his schooling in Lintlaw and Sturgis, SK he enlisted in the RCAF in 1952 and retired in 1982. The years in the Air Force took him to many places including France (2 Wing), Chatham NB, Rivers MB, Cold Lake AB, Ramore ON, and finally retiring in Winnipeg MB. His second career was with the Department of Corrections in Headingly MB from 1982 to 1995. In 1982 he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Saviour. In 1991 he married June Roberts (nee Jordan) and together they built a new life with Christ as the head of their home. They shared a love that far exceeded their wildest dreams.... peace and laughter filled their home. They loved travelling and visited many countries. From 1995 when Doug finally retired for the second time, they would spend half of each year doing volunteer work for a variety of Christian organizations around the world. They loved this lifestyle and in 2007 they moved to Kelowna BC. They were still involved in the local church and serving overseas missions in the colder months. Doug will be remembered for his guitar playing and his fun-loving nature. He always had a few jokes to slip into a conversation.
I asked the Lord to guide me
