It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Dorothy Hautaluoma of Sidney, British Columbia, at the age of 98.
She will be lovingly remembered by her children Nancy (Graeme), John (Brenda), and Sandra (Dave); her grandchildren Scott (Amanda), Keith (Bill), Craig (Vinny), Arek, April, and Jamie; her great grandchildren Archer, Noemi, Audrey, Drew, and Matthew; and several nieces, nephews, and special friends.
She was predeceased by her loving husband of 56 years, Elmer, in April 2014.
Dorothy was born to Martha and Elmer Erickson, and raised in Edmonton by her adoptive parents, her Aunt Mabel and Stanley Livingstone. Dorothy met and married Eugene O'Neill, but the marriage was not to be, she gave birth to their daughter Nancy and eventually moved to Kelowna, B.C., where she met Elmer when they both worked for the CPR. They raised John and Sandra there until 1975 before moving to the Saanich Peninsula. She worked at the local Saanich Peninsula Hospital for 10 years before they both retired.
Dorothy and Elmer enjoyed dancing at McMorran's in Cordova Bay. She also enjoyed watching and feeding birds, hiking, exploring, and traveling. Alaska, Finland, Maui, and Mexico were among her favourites.
She was always very loving and generous and had lots of hugs for everyone.
Dorothy had wonderful times with friends and staff at Norgarden Estates where she resided for over 16 years.
Her family appreciates the assistance of the staff at Norgarden, Saanich Peninsula Hospital and Mount St.Mary long term care as well as the companionship of her Norgarden friends.
A celebration of life will be postponed due to Covid.
