It is with heavy hearts we announce that our beloved father Don passed away at the age of 82 in Kelowna on August 12th after a month long battle due to complications following a stroke.
Dad was born to parents Ernie and Beth and grew up in rural Manitoba until into his teen years at which time the family resided in Winnipeg. Dad was predeceased by his parents and Angel, his first granddaughter, and is survived by his brother Doug, sister Marnie, children Kurt & spouse Diedre, Clint, Mark & spouse Mallerlyn, and grandchildren Keenan, Duncan, Carson, Denby, Zada, and Rosie.
Sadly, as of this writing, Nancy, Don's loving wife of nearly 59 years, also passed away 3 months after Dad's passing.
Dad had an illustrious career with the RCMP and took on postings across the country with the lion's share of his time being spent serving in BC. Dad retired as superintendent and officer in charge of the Surrey detachment.
Outside of work and family Dad was a dedicated hobbyist taking up many different art forms. Dad was highly accomplished in wood carving, calligraphy, fly tying, fly rod building, pencil sketching and many others art forms he chose to try his hand at. Our homes are adorned with Dad's fine work.
Dad was a going concern in the communities in which he resided and was actively involved with the Knights of Columbus, charity organizations, hospital pet visiting, English literacy for recent immigrants, and was always available to help a neighbor in need.
We love you very much Dad and know that Mom has rejoined you in a happy place.
