If being late to arrive on stage is fashionable with concert performers today, than Dwight Yoakam kept up that reputation for his concert at Prospera Place on Thursday night.
Yoakam took to the stage at about 9:35 p.m., as many of his older crowd of fans were noticeably yawning and getting restless, even a few boos went out, before the country music singer finally took to the stage before a crowd of just over 2,000 people.
Yoakam is unique in the entertainment world for his varied interests, from acting and directing in film to his varied business interests, but country music was what made him famous dating back to his debut in the 1980s.
He has recorded more than 21 albums and compilations, charted more than 30 singles on the Billboard country song charts, and sold more than 25 million records.
He also has the odd title of being the most frequent musical guest in the history of The Tonight Show.
And while he has had roles in many popular movies over the last 25 years, from Sling Blade to Panic Room, Hollywood Homicide and The Three Burials Of Melquiadas Estrada to name a few, it is his music that that his fans came to hear last night, and they ultimately didn't leave disappointed.
