UPDATE: Electricity returned to Peachland and West Kelowna

Power is out to more than 1500 customers in West Kelowna.

Electricity returned to BC Hydro customers in Peachland and West Kelowna at around 7 p.m. Sunday night.

UPDATE: 5:40 p.m.

BY Hydro crews remain on site in West Kelowna after power lines were brought down by an object that was blown away in the wind.

The estimated time of power being restored is 6 p.m.

Winds blew a large gazebo frame onto power lines in West Kelowna, Sunday afternoon, cutting power to the area.

BC Hydro is on the way to the scene at Solar Road and Elliott Road to investigate.

More than 1,500 people are in the dark following the incident.

Power lines are down across the road and RCMP have closed down Elliot Road and Delray road.

North of Beach Avenue, to East of Highway 97, to West of Gellatly Road are affected.

Crews are anticipated to arrive by 1 p.m.
