An event planned for West Kelowna will allow folks with used hockey equipment to sell and buy and support a great cause at the same time.
The West Kelowna Hockey Equipment Swap at Mount Boucherie Complex will go from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 13.
Sellers are asked to drop off equipment between Wednesday Aug. 9 and Friday, Aug. 11, at the Mt. Boucherie Complex at 2760 Cameron Road in West Kelowna. Sellers are asked to return between 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. on Aug. 13, to pick up proceeds from the sale of their equipment and collect any unsold items.
Sixty per cent of the equipmentÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥™s sale price will go to the seller and 40 per cent will go to support West KelownaÏ㽶ÊÓƵֱ²¥™s KidSport chapter.
KidSport is a charitable program based on a philosophy that children whose parents cannot afford registration fees should not be left to watch from the sidelines and that all kids should be given the opportunity to experience the positive benefits of organized sports. It has has local chapters across Canada.
West Kelowna can provide grants for children, aged 18 and under, to help parents cover some of the costs of registration fees for a chosen sport. One application per child may be submitted each year.
