UPDATE: Police remain on scene where body found

UPDATE: Jan. 4, 9 a.m.

Police remain on scene at Ellis Street and Clement Avenue where a body was discovered Tuesday evening.

Officers explain an autopsy will be completed later today, at which time the scene will be released.

The name of the deceased is not being released until the autopsy is completed.

"RCMP continue to secure the scene, as investigators probe the mans death," says Cpl. Jesse O'Donaghey . "The investigation is in the early stages, as investigators work to positively identify the deceased and properly notify his family."

The death does not appear to be suspicious, say officers on scene, although it will not be confirmed until the autopsy has concluded and an official cause of death has been determined.

Kelowna RCMP confirm reports to Cap News that a man香蕉视频直播檚 body was discovered in downtown Kelowna Tuesday evening.

Cpl. Jesse O'Donaghey says RCMP continue to support the BC Coroners Service as both agencies continue their investigation into the death of man discovered near the intersection of Ellis Street and Clement Avenue.

A witness told the Cap News they saw what appeared to be a body bag being put into an unmarked Coroners Service van.

Police say no further information will be released tonight.

Police tape surrounds an empty lot at Clement Avenue and Ellis Street in Kelowna Tuesday evening 香蕉视频直播 as officers scour the scene.

Multiple RCMP vehicles are parked along Clement and officers have been witnessed searching the property with flashlights.

The property between Sunset Drive and Ellis is taped off.

The dirt-pile lot has reportedly been used in the past by transients.

The lot has remained vacant
