GUILDFORD 㽶Ƶֱ A man is in serious but stable condition after a shooting in Guildford Tuesday night.
The victim had multiple gun shot wounds and was transported to a regional trauma centre, according to Surrey RCMP.
Corporal Scotty Schumann said the man, 29, was from Coquitlam and 㽶Ƶֱknown to police.㽶Ƶֱ
He㽶Ƶֱs expected to survive.
Though police arrested a suspect last night in relation to the shooing, Schumann said, but 㽶Ƶֱhe㽶Ƶֱs been eliminated as a suspect so currently, we have no persons in custody.㽶Ƶֱ
Police are still trying to determine who the shooter was.
Bystanders said they believe that the shots came from a motorcyclist.
㽶ƵֱWe believe it was targeted,㽶Ƶֱ Schumann added. 㽶ƵֱCertainly, the actions of the shooter lead one to believe that this was targeted. Every shooting in public I would categorize as brazen, whether it㽶Ƶֱs daytime or night time. It㽶Ƶֱs still a risk to the public.㽶Ƶֱ
The shooting took place shortly before 8:30 p.m. at the strip mall at the northwest corner of 148 Street and 108 Avenue in Guildford and witnesses said they heard half a dozen shots prior to the RCMP㽶Ƶֱs arrival. A bullet hole marred the glass front of a sushi restaurant with a 㽶Ƶֱgrand opening㽶Ƶֱ sign still up.
