Sicamous RCMP say a trucker was fined after nearly causing a collision in the Bruhn Bridge construction zone along Highway 1.
At midnight on Friday, Jan. 10, police received a report from a traffic control crew at the construction site in Sicamous. Police said the driver of a westbound semi truck and trailer had "disregarded the traffic control device restricting the highway to single lane alternating use."
"The westbound truck began to drive into the eastbound lane, nearly causing a collision with eastbound traffic," said Sgt. Murray McNeil in a media release.
Sicamous RCMP stopped the truck and the driver was issued a $368 ticket for driving without due care and attention.
Work on the construction project has resumed and the District of Sicamous recently shared a schedule showing when the bridge would be closed or traffic reduced to single lane alternating (see link below.
