Sicamous RCMP had to use the threat of a Taser to subdue and arrest an intoxicated man for Breaching the Peace.
At 11 a.m. on Jan. 4, police were called to a disturbance at a residence on Cunningham Frontage Road in Malakwa after a woman reported her spouse to be "extremely intoxicated and agitated." Responding officers found the 39-year-old man sleeping in the driver's seat of a van upon their arrival.
"The man became belligerent upon learning police were present," stated the RCMP media release. "Officers drew a conducted energy weapon (Taser) and warned the man that the Taser would be used on him if he did not comply with arrest."
The man then obeyed police commands and was arrested without further incident. He was taken to the detachment and held in cells until sober, when he was then released.
