Pizza chain raises money for diabetes research

Pizza Hut has raised $87,167 to help in the fight against diabetes.

The money, raised by the chain香蕉视频直播檚 48 restaurants in B.C. including the two in Kelowna, was collected leading up to the recent JDRF Telus Walk to Cure Diabetes.

This year marked the 10th year of Pizza Hut香蕉视频直播檚 involvement with the walk and the 2017 amount raised brings the total that the company has collected for JDRF to $285,000.

The money will go to preventing, treating and finding a cure for Type 1 diabetes. JDRF funds research on a worldwide basis aimed at moving closer to a cure. There are more than 300,000 Canadians living with Type 1 diabetes and the estimated cost to the health care system is expected to be as high as $16 billion by 2020.

JDRF recognized PH Restaurants for its fundraising efforts this year, a 47 per cent increase from the previous year. The company was awarded the 2017 Steppin香蕉视频直播 Up Corporate Achievement Award.
